Who is the Boost Yourself Journal for? 

A: This journal is for ambitious businesswomen who feel stressed and overwhelmed, who struggle to juggle their business and personal life with their own self-care and wellbeing while developing their business and their brand.

They need the Boost Yourself journal to focus on their personal and business development, to put into action some of the things they’ve already learned about mindset, manifesting, and goal setting. Or to simply get things off their chest when they are stressed out.

Why did you create the Boost Yourself Journal?

The idea for the journal came about when talking with my client Faye Cox, who is a mindset and confidence coach. 

Faye asked me “What happened with that colouring book that you’re meant to be creating? Me: “Oh Yeah, it didn’t happen.” 

I listed various reasons, you know because this and that, I haven’t had the time and I just haven’t got around to it. They were all BS excuses. I realised that once again my imposter syndrome was getting in the way of my creativity. 

Faye said “Well, what’s stopping you? You need to create this book then! 

Me: “Okay. then, I will!” 

I decided “OK I’m gonna do this, colouring book!” because I love pattern illustration design and as a publishing specialist I really should have my own book! But actually, I fairly quickly realised that I literally didn’t have the time to put into creating a coloring book. I had some illustrations and stuff that I could repurpose. So I thought I know I’ll create a journal instead, as that will be much easier. (haha!).

What’s in the Boost Yourself Journal? 

The Journal includes:

  • lined and blank pages, starting with the “Today I…” prompt
  • Illustrations for colouring
  • Little Lady mood tracker
  • Boost Yourself tips from other businesswomen
  • The mission and purpose, and ideal client exercises, which include the questions who, why, what, where, and how. These exercises are all about developing ourselves, our businesses, and our brand.
  • At the back of the journal is a four-page business directory

Ginny Says: “This Journal gives so many different options of getting to know yourself, getting to know your business better, knowing what you’re supposed to be doing with your marketing and stuff. It’s also helping you to de-stress and get more creative! There’s so much in this and then you get a list of suppliers that you can collaborate with as well. It’s brilliant.” 

How does the Boost Yourself Journal help businesswomen to develop their business and brand? 

In business, self-care is so important, it is especially important for those who are feeling stressed and overwhelmed. The journal provides a safe place to explore, reflect and destress. The mission and purpose and ideal client exercises, resources, and tips all provide an endless source of personal and business development.

Doing that core work on your mission and purpose and having that understanding really helps you to translate that information into your brand identity and brand values, even down to your logo, what colours you should be using things like that. It transcends all of those elements and that is why I had to include it in the journal. 

Ginny said “I think that’s the absolute key. Not knowing yourself properly is the thing that holds so many people back and feeling like they should be doing stuff when they don’t know their own values and really what they want and when you do that core work on yourself, then you become more in tune with actually what you want to be doing.“


Who contributed to the Journal? 

Nikki Sawyer wrote the foreword for the journal. Nikki, who I’ve dubbed the Queen of Journaling, is a coach supporting mum’s with anxiety, she encourages women to practice journaling. I’ve found her really inspirational, she’s just wonderful! In the foreword, Nikki share’s her journaling tips and explains the benefits of journaling for self-care and personal development. Nikki also suggested that I include a permission slip in the book, which I did.  

The Boost Yourself Journal is packed with ‘Boost Yourself’ tips, from a diverse mix of international businesswomen who share their expertise on branding, business development, marketing, mindset, confidence, fashion & style, health & wellbeing, healthy eating, meditation, and breathing exercises and much more. Faye Cox, Mindset & Confidence Coach

In the process of starting and developing a business our personal mindset plays a big part in the progress we make. It also impacts our communication, marketing, and branding. Although subtle, we may unintentionally project the wrong message about ourselves and our business.

I interviewed Mindset Coach, Faye Cox about how our mindset affects our business development and branding. 

What can we do to identify our limiting thoughts and reframe them?

Limiting thoughts tend to come from our childhood. We take on our family beliefs from an early age, but as adults and business owners most of these beliefs no longer serve us.

We can identify them when thoughts arise that we feel might be holding us back e.g. Money doesn’t grow on trees etc. This is typical of someone who has limiting beliefs around how much money they deserve to make in their business.

WE can re-frame them by finding more positive statements to better support us, such as I AM open to receiving money into my life and business. Repeat this over and over each and every day until it becomes the norm.

This will re-wire your mind into thinking positively around money rather than negatively. The brain loves repetition and that’s how you developed the limiting belief in the first place!

What can we do to combat imposter syndrome?

All too often, we spend far too much time comparing ourselves to others. This is not only a complete waste of our time, but it also holds us back from creating the success we truly deserve.

To combat Imposter Syndrome I get my clients to first write out their professional profile to include everything they do, how they do it, what makes them different and the style in which they deliver their services.

I ask them to put it somewhere that they can see it every day. This helps them remind themselves that they are good enough, they are experienced enough and they are qualified enough.

This is a great daily confidence boost too! I then get clients to list everything they’ve achieved in their life & business so far and again, put it somewhere they can see it.

Lastly, I get them to catch the language that they use when talking about themselves. We re-frame their self-talk from the negative to the positive. What you tell yourself matters and you need to be kinder to yourself.

Everyone is unique and the more you realise your own strengths, the less you feel the need to compare to others.

How do you think our mindset affects, our business development and branding? 

If you don’t do the work on your mindset then the business is going to be an uphill struggle, no matter how much skill and business knowledge you have. A mindset for success is fundamental to your business.

Your mindset will also affect your branding hugely. You need to know who you really are so that you can create the right branding that fits who you are and what you’re about as a business owner.

This shines through then to your potential clients who will be attracted to you and your business as a result.

How can we clarify our own mission and purpose in our businesses?

In order to clarify your mission and purpose, you first need to find out who you really are! This is number one in everything when looking at your business.

You have to be in alignment with your values, mission, and vision. Look at your strengths and work out exactly what it is that you want to put out into the world.

What positive actions would you recommend to business owners to improve their mindset and increase the visibility of their brand?

Firstly, take a step back and work out your personal values, the ones that you hold true today and let go of the ones that have been given to you, that no longer serve you as a person or business owner.

Let go of any old habits that are holding you back and create more powerful ones. Welcome your failures and see them as learning so you can grow. Create a rock-solid routine and get out of your own way. 

In terms of visibility, if you’re not visible your clients can’t find you and you’re working your butt off every day. Staying small isn’t going to work for you here.

Hiding in the shadows is no good for anyone and copying someone else and thinking you ‘Should’ be doing everything that others are doing isn’t going to help either.

Allowing yourself to be 100% you, is by far the easiest and best way to attract clients into your business. Trust your own intuition!

How can you help business owners, and how can they contact you for help?

Most people come to me because they want to make a positive change in their life. They want to feel more motivated, they want to escape their bad habits and they want to be more confident within themselves.

My coaching style is no-nonsense, straight-talking, and gets to the core issue. I believe that in order to gain clarity and move forward you need to go deeper and release the fears and limiting beliefs that are holding you back. 

I work with a range of female business owners world-wide. Using my Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy knowledge, and NLP skills and experience.

I support these women to gain the necessary clarity to help them achieve what they truly want in their life and business.

I coach both individuals and groups who want to create a successful life and business without having to sacrifice their family and friends, and those looking for more time and self-belief.

What does your logo say about you?

What does your logo say about you? Does it give the right impression of your business? Does it tell people what you do? Does it represent your brand well?

As a business owner, there are many aspects to consider in creating your logo and brand identity, such as budget, functionality, and creating the right look and feel for your business. 

Investing in your Logo design
When selecting a designer to work with it is very important to choose the right person for the job, which can be quite confusing when there are so many designers and various price options available. 

Whether your business is a start-up or an established business, you need to ensure that any investment provides brand assets that are fit for purpose and bring a good return on investment. 

As I designer I am frustrated by seeing other ‘designers’ offering logo design or any design services for that matter at extremely low cost. I think this de-values, the quality, and integrity of design.  

Yes, there are many people on websites like fiver and people per hour who will offer you the world for a fiver. I would hedge my bets that it’ll cost you more than a fiver to fix the problems and any loss of time in using their services – this would be such a bad investment.

Recently I’ve seen many low budget logo design services being advertised for a little as £5-£20. Some show examples that can’t really be called logos in my opinion. Others may look pretty but don’t really stand up as proper logo designs that are scalable, legible, or unique. 

What is worse is that often these services are in some cases not using the correct software tools or following the most basic of design principles and as a result, they are not providing their clients with properly designed logos.

Logo’s should be created in a vector format, and customers should be supplied with a .ai file so that the logo design can be used for a variety of purposes. But then again for £5! Could anyone really expect to get a decent, unique professional logo design supplied in the correct formats? I think not! 

Below I’ve listed 3 pricing categories for logo design in the current market and what you can expect to get for those prices. 

Logo Design Budget
Low Budget £5-20: Generic, basic, template logo designs, created on Canva, or with incorrect tools or software. Whilst they might look ok and sufficiently do the job on your social media, will these stand up to being used in print media? Is the work provided fit for purpose? Does it make your business look professional or amateurish? I think it makes it look like you don’t value your own business more than £20. 

Mid Range £100-£350: I feel this is a more realistic ballpark figure and a fairer price for creating a professional logo design. Depending on your requirements and design brief, you should expect to receive initial design concepts, 1 lot of variations based on your feedback, and the final logo design, also possibly a final logo supplied in different colorways. I would ensure that you receive a variety of different formats and sizes for use in print and social media. You should check with your designer how their process works and what their price includes.

High-Cost £1000-£15,000 plus: This price range would be for much larger organisations or corporate businesses. This would be for a very high-end logo and branding design for global, international audiences, and high ticket business. Where a client wants to create a complete brand identity and develop company brand guidelines to follow. Such as specifying colour palettes, fonts, sizing, spacing, image elements, language and tone of copywriting, and much more.

Ebooks can easily be created with Kindle Create and published via Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. There are many other self-publishing platforms and ebook formats, paperback and hardback options available, such as wiro bound, workbooks, hardback and full colour. The opportunities are endless and exciting!
